“Surveillance Scape,” an art installation / participatory performance by Stephen Zimmerer
Aug 30 @ 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm
“’Surveillance Scape’ is a collaborative and socially-distance-friendly exhibition in which community members are able to schedule appointments to build their own work of architecture using 32 lightweight, interlocking plywood triangles. Each “appointment” yields an illusion of privacy and intimacy between visitors and the interactive arwork, but is recorded through a centrally-located CCTV camera and then exhibited remotely in Hong Kong. The video feed of the CCTV camera is also projected live onto the walls of the gallery, creating the visual effect of a “room of mirrors.” The project is underwritten by the Hong Kong Design Trust.”
The installation will be open from 6 pm to 10 pm on Sunday 8/30. Community members should sign up for a time to view it, because the installation is meant to be experienced privately as individuals or small groups (which works great in this climate of social distancing).
