Memories & Mindscapes

Opening reception: Friday, February 3, 2017, 7 – 9 pm Art Alliance Gallery Downtown, 123 S Fraser St. State College, PA 16801

On view: February 3, 2017 – 26, 2017

Joseph Conrad once wrote, “The mind of man is capable of anything.” The human mind is an incredible, unfathomable thing. It is a place of both boundaryless existence and human capacity, taking what we perceive to be real and turning it over, upside-down, and inside-out. Our memories and imagination are what take us beyond the limits of reality and of time, to a place made up entirely of possibility.

In Memories & Mindscapes, seven Centre County artists investigate the role of fantasy, imagination, memories, and nostalgia in their work. Translating this central theme through a variety of artistic media, this contemplative exhibition explores the complexities of how we realize the past and the imagined in our own minds.
