For the Moment

Opening reception: Friday, May 5, 2017, 7 – 9 pm Art Alliance Gallery Downtown, 123 S Fraser St. State College, PA 16801

On view: May 5, 2017 – 28, 2017

Georgia O’Keeffe once said, “When you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it’s your world for the moment.” From painting to sculpture, artists have a strong history of embracing the language of flowers to portray temporaneous themes and allegorical gestures. Flowers symbolize contrasting binaries, embodying ephemerality and eternity, passion and purity, fragility and strength.

In For the Moment, six contemporary artists will explore the rich and inspirational life of flowers in art. Ranging in media, style, and concept, these beautiful expressions of nature’s bounty will remind us to enjoy the season and celebrate the potential to be found in a backyard blossom.
