Designer Dorothy Cosonas once said, “inspiration comes from keeping your eyes open.” Many fiber and textile artists gain inspiration from their environment and from the changing world around them. Fiber and textile-based art from incorporate elements consisting of natural or synthetic fiber as well as materials such as fabric or yarn. It is an artistic field that focuses on the importance of materiality and the significance of the artist’s manual labor. It equally prioritizes aesthetic value with utility and can manifest in a variety of forms, techniques and surfaces. In “Fabricated” six fiber artists marry creative expression with traditional maker techniques.
