My flower photos are part of a series I began in 2012. They were initially inspired by the beautiful blooms that my husband grows in our small cottage garden. I set a vase full of flowers in front of one of my abstract paintings and suddenly realized the powerful synergy between the flowers and the paintings. This led to me to try out different flowers (color, shape, size) and vases (haunting the local goodwill store). I love the relationship between the natural form of the flowers and the man-made shapes of my abstract paintings. I began shooting from different angles and new fantasy worlds emerged each time. To continue exploring this ever-evolving process, I spend the Winters creating new paintings to use as backdrops while pouring through catalogues for new varieties of flowers to plant.
